MEMBERSHIP

The main focus of Operations Research is informed decision-making, and since there is virtually no area of human endeavour that does not require decision-making, it is therefore not a misdirected effort having members from varied backgrounds. Operations Research is interdisciplinary, unique and provides opportunities for people from various disciplines to contribute a variety of skills. To adequately integrate people from other fields, the Institute has put in place training programme with courses leading to award of Certificate and Diploma in Operations Research.

Privileges

Upon admission, a member of the Institute is entitled to the following benefits:

  1. Regular mandatory professional development programmes, seminars, workshops and conferences.
  2. Every member has right to Council Membership having participated effectively at district or/and national level (s) and up to date in financial obligations. Right to vote and be voted for at the Council elections.
  3. Serve the Institute at committee level.
  4. Free supply of INFORN Newsletter Quarterly
  5. Invitation to participate in research assignment and as resource person where considered competent.
  6. Discount on fees charged on courses offered by INFORN and its publications on special research topics.
  7. Access to a reference library of the Institute and acceptance of article(s) considered suitable for publication in both local and international journals.
  8. Connection to individuals at the top of ones area of specialization through INFORN special interest groups, local branches and membership directory.
  9. Invitation to Annual National Professional Conference (ANPC) and Annual National Business Meeting (ANBM) of the Institute.

MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS

The Institute offers direct membership in the following categories: Fellow, Associate-Fellow, Associate, Graduate, Student and Corporate.

  1. Student Member :- This is applicable to undergraduate of any institution
  2. Graduate Member: - University Degree/HND in any field of knowledge or other professional qualification acceptable to the Council of the Institute.
  3. Associate Member (AIOR)
    • Age not less than 25 years
    • University Degree/HND in any field of knowledge or other professional qualification acceptable to the Council of the Institute.
    • A minimum of three (3) years working experience
      OR
    • Having three(3) years post election as a graduate member with working experience within the period and up to date in financial obligation to the Institute
    • Must have undergone the Institute’s Mandatory professional development Programme (MPDP) as at time of application.
  4. Associate-Fellow (AFIOR)
    Fulfil any of the following
    • Be an eminent personality as evidence by his/her contribution in the area of his/her chosen career.
    • Master Degree in any field with evidence of research work
    • Evidence of ten (10) years working experience after First Degree/HND
      OR
    • Having been an Associate of the Institute for a minimum period of five (5) years and
    • Have undergone the Institute’s Mandatory Professional development Programme (MPDP) for at least twice.
    • Be up to date in the payment of his/her annual membership subscription and development level.
    • Be involved in the activities of the Institute at National or District level. This includes attendance of professional and Business meetings serve on committees, or seminars/workshops and other training programmes.
  5. Fellow (FIOR)
    • Be an eminent personality as evidenced by his/her contribution in the area of his/her chosen career.
      OR
    • Have been an Associate-fellow of the Institute for a period of five (5) years and
    • Have undergone the Institute’s Mandatory Professional development programme for at least twice.
    • Be up-to-date in the payment of his/her annual membership subscription and development level.
    • Be involved in the activities of the Institute at National or District level. This includes attendance of professional and Business meetings, serve on Committees, or at seminar/workshop or facilitating at seminar/workshops and other training programmes. The power of election to this status is vested in the council of the Institute on the recommendation of the membership committee.

However, attendance of a day Professional development programme is mandatory for elected members.

  2. Sole Proprietorship N5,000.
  3. Partnership N10,000.
  4. Limited liability company N15,000
  5. Multinational N20,000

TRAINING PROGRAMMES

The Institute offers course leading to awards of:

  1. Certificate in Operations research: Duration - 4 months
  2. Diploma in Operations Research : Duration – 18 months.
